Speaker: Mr.Yusuf Suliman

Mufti Yusuf Suliman was appointed Head of Shari'ah for Absa Islamic Banking and Absa Africa in 2010. He also serves in this capacity for Element Investment Managers. He serves on the Shari'ah Boards  of Shari'ah Investments Ltd (Malawi). He is the Imam of the Central Islamic School. He developed the Islamic Banking training material for the Banking Sector Education & Training Authority (Bankseta) ,the first comprehensive introductory course on Islamic Banking for all South African Islamic Banks. This was a world first by a government education authority.  He previously served on the Shari’ah Boards of the Momentum Investment Cluster including RMB and Advantage.

¡He is one of few scholars in SA accredited by AAOIFI as Shari’ah Advisor and Auditor. He holds a BA in Higher Islamic Studies. He also holds Certificates in Qadha (adjudication) from Jamiatul-Imaam, Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and Imarat Shari'ah, Patna Bihar (India) and has completed Iftaa(issuance of verdicts) at Darul Uloom Zakariyya, Lenasia (South Africa)
